Dan SelzerMemberDon’t know if this is worth a new topic but…when adding to Print/Trip it seemed to only allow to display the address that I use to login to Boxcar. Would it be possible to allow the addition of alternate email addresses? My work contact address is different than the address I use for logging into Boxcar.
Also having trouble with the website linking to my website.

Harold KyleMemberOK, let me explain how the email and website work at the moment. I’m not saying this is perfect, but this is how it works:
Yes, the email shown on the map has to be the same as the email that you use to log in. This is validated during the signup process and is the only one available for display on the map. You choices here are either to change your email address (which will also require validation) or to register a separate account. Let me know if you need instructions on either of these tasks.
At the moment we accept one website per account. This will become a link to your organization’s name when someone clicks on your map’s placeholder (it’s never written out completely within the placeholder). We do santitize the URL with FILTER_SANITIZE_URL. I believe if you cut and paste this from the URL bar of your browser this should work, although I note your account is still not set. Do you see an error in the browser? I’d like to know more about the problem you’re experiencing.

Dan SelzerMemberregarding the email question…if there’s only going to be the one address, I may update my address, but can probably figure that out myself. Maybe in the long run something like Briar Press’s system would be good, where you’d have a “contact” button and the mail is sent to my address without the sender seeing it. Though I understand most people would probably want to publicize their address.
If I decide to not bother changing my email login, I’d be fine knowing people could just click on the web link and contact that way, assuming I can get that to work. What’s happening there is when I try to add my website url, if I type it up without http, it says “please confirm your website url” and doesn’t show up when I edit the print/trip page, then the link just took me back to the map. I just added the full URL and the first time it seemed to link to http://http://myaddress and didn’t work, but now it does seem to be working.

Dan SelzerMemberAnd now that it’s working, I should probably make a website one of these days! Thanks again for the site.

Harold KyleMemberOK, thanks for pointing out that bug, Dan. We’ll update the website (as shown in the print/trip settings) to remove the duplicate ” http:// “.
I also want to check to make sure you’re aware that showing your email address is opt-in. So, by default it doesn’t show up. I like your approach of using the website for people to find how to contact you…or else Facebook or Twitter. No one needs to know your email address if you don’t choose to show it.
Glad to hear things are working now, though.
